Hey guys this my 1989 vn calais. I have had her 4 just over 2 yrs now and i still love her. She is only a 6 but i cant afford to run an 8. Not to much engine mods atm apart from the usual **** like exhaust, filter and throttle body. Soon getting fitted with an 100 hp shot of nos to make her a bit more fun when i want her to be.
Out side she is lowere as far as she will go ( rear anyway, i dont want to c how low the front will go) Speedy 18" envy mark III in shadow, few odds on the bonnet and some pinline work i had a mate do 4 me just to make her a little apart from the others out there while still blending in.
Ok most the time and money has gone into the entertainmment system (plz dont 4get im a broke arse) I have a jvc exade dvd headuntit, lightning audio 6.5" splits in the front, alpine type r 6x9 in the rear, 800w kenwwod amp, 222 & 444 sony explode amps and a 300w pioneer, in the boot are also 4 sony explode 12" subs. PS2 also fitted in the glove box and a larger screen fitted above the head unti in true ghetto style.
Im sure there is more to list but no doubt u gone straight to the pics and seen most of it 4 urself. Hope yall like her as much as i do

nice ride man, nice work on the interior really well done, lol monster tachos and autos are my favourite mix but its ur car which is the main thing, not to sure bout the scoop either but other then them two preferences of mine i think u got a awesome car, keep up the good work mate
yer i cop it about the tacho a bit but it is used 4 the drags (when i get to go) im just a little lazy and would rather be told when to shift than work it out 4 myself lol, Not total manual control but everybit counts when its only a few seconds
its the origonal paint, i was one of the lucky... bought it of an old guy ppl haha. only had 170 000 on the clock when i got her to, the head untit is not a double din so that fit like normal and the other screen is kinda on a stand atm but will be cut into the dash
o ok thats fair enough mate if u use it for the drags, lol alot better excuse then my mates at school who watch it get all the way to 2.5 grand before it auto changes for them as they drive to school lmao
ha ha thanks, trying to go 4 a old school look, im not a fan of the whole old car new kits thing ( no offence to any1 out there) its all personal preferance really. Pin lines was something i aint seen done b4 so i went 4 it![]()
yeh the pin lines makes a huge difference and definetly someting a little mor unique
oh **** i 4got 1! the best one lol

thats a very clean vn calais i really like the rims suits it very well![]()
That's a wicked calais dude, i think the bonnet looks awesome. Car looks flawless.
Love those wheels, theyre tough.
Any other plans for some more power besides NOS?
i got a 4.2lt sitting in the shed and thats waiting 4 a rebuild, there is nothing wrong with it i just want to make sure everything is good b4 i put her in and toughen up a few bits so ill just take my time with that cos the old 3.8 is still running stong and is doing the job well. Then the big question, charge or snail?
Mmmm..sounds nice. A snail on a 4.2l would be awesome. I would expect 200rwkw easily depending on what turbo you get.
You've got lots of gauges there, what ones are they?
a 4.2L stroker v6 or a 4.2L 253 v8??
If its a 253 ill drive over to WA and slap him straight...haha..jokes..|
That would be way more effort than its worth..
no ****... why someone would want an old 253 slug in a vn.. i dont know
253:
sound of an 8
power of a 6
economy of a 12
two flies and a flea, hahaha hell no! stroked 3.8 4 me
gauges r only vacum, volts, temp and oil pressure
Good2hear, those pinstripes grow on me everytime i look at them.
hey man i love the car..
just wondering what the handbrake and window switches are from. and where they hard to wire?
cheers mate any help would be good.
thanks man, the switches are from my old vk and the handbrake cover is a saas, just pull off the old, slide on the new and tighten a screw. Bobs ur uncle
Very interesting that for sure,do like the rear garnish, centre consol and wheels, think the vents in the bonnet look cheap. What is with the the volt guage - Do you really need that.
Good stuff, long live the vn calais.
Cheers.![]()
* RVN 355 *
Definitely an interesting ride. Bloody straight, rare for a VN calais these days.
Life's Grouse in Frankston South!
yer the volt gauge has saved me a few times, just 4 when we out camping or anything. Its handy 4 when u have the music going and u can keep an eye on the volt level so u can start ur car in time so she dont go flat. Thats about all its there 4 really, hahaha. When ya live out my way u do a lot of camping but, not much more to do
white looks so good on VN's specialy Calais'
ur car sits well just how i want mine to sit touch on the rim...
looks taken care of aswell the gold pin stripes are diferent but
they do grow on ya .. with the bonnet and air vents not a big fan but thats
IMO .. interior is done smick nice system and centre console is done tops
dont mind the guages as for the tacho fair enough if u do runs..
looks good![]()
