nice calais buddy and welcome to the forum..
low kms if i saw right 107xxx ? car looks nice and cleans an a charger as future mod should be sweet let us know how the diff gears turn out .. wanting to hear from some1 from a auto's feedback![]()
Welcome mate.
Looks in awesome condition.
If your wanting more power, enclose the pod in a box, or go for a standard holden airbox and CAI.
Good time aswell, i thought my stock Calais would be a mid 15, but going by those mods, it'd make a flat 15

is yours stock like mine? it really comes down to how good a condition your motor and transmission are in, i had a efi 5 litre in a vq before this and the differance between 107000 and 22000 is amazing, but i think it also counts that my car was owned by an 82 year old woman (bought from deceased estate)
i did the time with half a tank of fuel, didnt drop tyre pressures, remove headlight or anythign like that, but it was a pretty cool night
I havn't ran mine, but they are a low 15 stock apparently.
Mine isn't stock anymore, i'd be happy to get a low 145 with the mods i have.

who knows, but it was garaged for 10 years apparently
very nice and neat calais mate, i thought i did well with mine but u beat me lol.
the funny thing is i also recently had a VQ with 200,000km's and i have to agree with u 100% that the calais feels and goes soo much better than the VQ even after spending a decent amount of money on it and the calais is untouched.
once again well done![]()

cheers man, the thing i like about the calais the most is it is live axle : ) makes for serious sideways action (rarely). i really do miss my vq stato though, the interior space, interior/exterior cannot be beaten on looks... im drooling just thinking about it....
looks mint mate![]()

14.8 is pretty good man im hoping to run a 15 lol..
nice car once again
cheers guys, vr304 if yours is in good nick with a few bolt ons theres no reason why you cant see a 15 flat.
Not a bad looking calais, dont often see the red ones. You need some high quality pics mate. 14.8 at willowbank hey...thats a good time. Are you coming to the drag meet in july that queenslandcommodores are holding?
never even knew about the cruise, what date, destination and meetup place?
and yeah the red is a good colour, its a good shade for cruising surfers paradise : )
Not a cruise, its a drag meet. go to Queenslandcommodores.com and sign up, there you will find details on the forum for the pheonix lights drag meet July 12th. $60 per car. All the details are there.
its an assumption considering the motors still quite fresh. and if it doesnt have it now it will when i receive my tune from jason.
Your car is 165kw at the fly stock, I dunno how it could be pushing 150 at the treds. 150rwkw sounds about right for the 200kw HSV variant.
ive got the hsv sv89 tune and got the motor breathing better so id say around 180kw at the flywheel, then minus 30 kw through the auto... its only an around about figure.
do ur self a favour and fk that pod off unless its enclosed properly?
naked pod = lose performance suckin up all that engine heat mmmmmm hott![]()
ive had plain airbox's, pods and otr cais's and cant honestly tell the differance between a pod and cai. if you have a good look at your car youll notice a big gap leading air from the bumper to the airbox area, theres also a big clutch fan spinning up air from underneath the car. i have it set up differantly then in the pic, i now have extended the intake pipe and secured the pod to the body (bracket secured by original airbox bolts) with the pod directly in front of the opening from the bumper.
what i have had planned though is to completely box off the pod and have a scoop installed in the bonnet right over the pod. the only drawback is when it rains so i would be fixing some chicken wire wrapped in a stocking to filter out the water form hitting the pod.
well ye in that case thats fair enough the pic just looked like it was hanging there thats all.. post some pics once uve boxed it off
any soundclips of ur exhaust curious to hear what it sounds like getiing mine done soon![]()
its a 2.25 inch (asked for 2.5 at shop but meh...) but sounds pretty good.. actually if you hold on ill go get a clip
Pod would be costing it a 10th for sure and be two tenths down from a front mount CAI, absolutely. But just show was a fresh motor can do for you. Because it would be only a hour or twos easy work to make this thing run a 14.5
