Shiftkit is free with this guy's rebuild. He makes his own. And the corvette servo is only $50, and a twenty minute fit. I had both on my VP, and the gearbox behaved exactly how I wanted it to
If I'm not mistaken, a shift-kit will increase hydraulic pressure to the clutch packs and reduce slip'age. Reduces shift overlap and other nasties. Otherwise generally improves gearbox life. A Corvette servo serves a similar purpose in terms of elongating life, and reducing slip. Something like 30% more holding power. So why not both?
As much as it would probably be a great drive with one or the other, I KNOW exactly how it feels after he builds a box with both - so why try anything different, right?

Sounds like your have made a good decision Morton, gotta get it done before it makes driving annoying. Mine lost 3rd and 4th on my way home from work between towns, 100km.h in 2nd gear isnt that great LOL.

you got it morton, the shift kit alters the way the fluid travels through the valve body (the TCI kit i have here actaully has 2 drill bits in it to alter the standard seperator plate and some new springs) the servo applies more pressure on the band to stop it slipping. it also takes less time for the fluid to accumulate behind the servo (something to do with the surface area of the servo) so when shifting at high throttle settings (with increased pressures from the shift kit) it gets into gear in double time, jsut the way you like it
nice ride morton. personally not a big fan of the statesman series but you gotta love the extra cylinders and displacement. (although i imagine it's a very comfy cruiser)

Hahahah oh dear, that's gotta suck. Happened to my dad's mazda oh the way to adelaide. Every time it shifted into 3rd it would cut out altogether. Had to hold it in 2nd gear all the way back to Melbourne

Thanks for the info mate, always handy to accumulate more information ^_^ rep will be left.
Yeah, the stato has its ups and its downs... but you can't go past the sheer size of the thing. So much acreage in the back, it's amazing ^_^
My tax return should be in the vacinity of $3000, so some of that will go into reubilding the trans and swapping over my diff centers. Then the stato will have a good auto and 3.7s, and we can get back to work

Yeah, they've come down a bit alright
I wish mine was your colour though. You've got the nice clean white. Mine's milky white, and therefore looks rubbish unless washed properly. Love the work you've done on yours too, I've got many pics saved in my JC folder ^__^ Yours is mint.
And yeah... that spoiler wasn't brilliant, was it I'm going to pick up grommets for the boot when I can - and keep my eyes on ebay for a milky white boot lid.
