Haha, I'll consider it Bz Kn33zBut I also like a rattle-free dash
Also, the evaporator is HUGE!!! Here it is lined up next to my cigarette case for comparison:

Does anybody have any experience installing an electronic heater into the climate control system, in place of the water cooled system the cars use?
I'm talking about a 12v heater (similar to something you'd plug into the cig lighter) that I can place where the heater core was, and flick on/off at will.

i reckon its not worth it. will probably mess up your climate system, start melting stuff under the dash, or cause a fire. that and it will weigh more than a heater core

i was thinkin this but wen i replaced all my heater hoses i checked it seemed 2 move freely but then again who knows lol
sound like wat mine would b like wen i 1st got the car, water got in the block and turned 2 ice coffee, all got cleaned out but i think the heater core was the only thing we couldnt flush coz they damage easy??? so im hoping mines just full of brown stuff from that.

I'm doing mine just for fun. Now that I've thought of it, I neeeeed to
I like your style!!
Morton, honestly you are inspiring me to attack my VN. EVERYTHING has to go. Full race spec, don't care about rattles. If I ever get posted over your way I will hire YOU
Also, to the person who mentioned the bumper reos, good thinking!! They can lose some meat without compromising safety I think!

Take some more deadner out or that fluffy crap off the carpet and more heat will come in from the motor, or the rubber around the gear stick i had that off and it was very loud! but nice and warm its worth a thought![]()

Yeah, I've decided to go with the stock heater for now
It's an interesting thought... I had a look, but I'd be paying $100 all up for a decent electronic heater setup, and it still wouldn't be all that good.
Yeah, I need to do a flush of the whole cooling system now, while I've got the heater core and all out of the car.
Hahaha, get out there and DO ITYou'll notice the difference. At first, it feels like a waste of time... but after a year, when you've lost 150kg like I have, you know it's all been worthwhile
Yeah, I'm sticking with the water heater. I like my warmth(here's hoping it all works when I stick it back in the stato tomorrow).
If not, all back out to see where I went wrong
Haha I think I will remove itI like being able to hear what's going on - and if that stuff is absorbing sound, I do not want!!!
I'll throw the dash back together with some sikaflex between a few things though. I like the idea of nothing rattling![]()

Finally got the climate control system back together (I think) - now to double check everything is in order, and take it back out to the car for reinstallation!
What a sonofabitch it was to put back together. All the innards just float, they're not fixed, so I had to line up a dozen different pieces before sliding the two halves back together, then stick my hand in and arrange them all while slowly moving the two halves closer before clicking everything into place to be secured. Never. Again.

What a pain, i never want to pull my dash out ever, the stato should go on TV Add saying it lost 150KG in 12 months thanx Morton! lol

Haha, I'm sitting here looking at the climate control... I ONLY use the system for a demister. I have no aircon, and I was fine the other day when it was 2deg in the morning and my heater was broken. I didn't cry.
Luke has almost talked me into getting 2x 12v hairdryers for a demister. And nothing else.![]()

I only use it for the demisters aswell, but i dont think i will try and tackle that in my car :P,
Go the hairdryers!!
~ VN POWER ~ Click the scales
It'll be interesting, and I won't have to turn the car on to demist the window. Go out, turn on the heaters in the morning before I get dressed, and by the time I get out to drive the car, it's all demisted and the edge is taken off the chill.

but if hair dryers blow hot air wont that defy the point of using them for a demister as the reason it has fogged up is due to the temperture differnce.
cause im pretty sure when i use the demister in my stato it throws the a/c on..
Heaters work fine for demisting, that's all I ever use. Insta fixed. Morton I saw a episode of Top Gear the other day. The boys were building a Caterham and trying to get it finished before the Stig arrived in his. I thought of you and decided if you watched that you would know what is the correct thing to do

Nah, the fog builds up due to the moisture in the air touching the cold window, and condensing. When you blow the window with hot air, you do two things. You raise the temperature of the glass, preventing condensation - and more short-term, you blow hot dry air over the condensation and remove it.
Yah, I know that oneIsn't it fantastic ^_^ When I re-assemble the dash I'll just leave all the washers out like Clarkson did
Thanks mate ^_^
Yeah, aircon is long gone anyway![]()
