nice ride g/l with it!
god morton..every time i look at your thread your always doing something to the stato...i wish i had your motivation!
nice ride g/l with it!
TVR-190: That LSD service paid off. Stato just got very sideways.
Grennan: In a stato, the term is held starboard.
hey morton how much did the cable cost what gauge you get??

I spent a few hours walking back and forth between Jaycar/Supercheap/Repco pricing up all the different combinations of parts that would get me where I wanted to go, and ended up buying a bit from each for the cheapest combination.
Haha, yeah ^_^ Thing is, all it takes is one squirt through the hills, and I'm dying to improve the car in one way or another.
Cheers mate ^_^
$8.00 per meter for 4GA. I bought 7m of it.
For the earth, I used a pre-made 0.5m 4GA strap with terminals on either end. That cost $14 I think. If I was to buy and make that strap myself, I would've paid $10 for the terminals and $8 for the extra meter of cable. Cheaper and less effort to buy that part pre-fab
$20 for the battery box
$17 for the 500A 12v switch
$3ea for new battery terminals with wingnuts

Cheers Morton one more obviously the switch is an isolator you putting it on neg or positive? and is it going to be mounted in the boot?

If I get voltage drop through the 4ga and increases in my crank time, I'll run down some 2ga. Then use the 4ga for a hot earth kit ^_^

4AG! We ran 00AG with mine and it still doesn't crank as hard as it used to.
Yeah, I'm not expecting anything perfect. If this proves a hastle, the wire is perfect to cut up for a hot earth which I'm going to do anyway. So there's no loss
I'm curious to find out just how badly this wire will react.
In theory, I should lose 0.72 volts over 24ft of 4ga cable.
I would lose 0.46 volts with 2ga
I would lose 0.28 volts with 0ga
Should be interesting![]()

Make sure you run an earth strap from the engine to chassis aswell as from the battery to body.
Cheers for info morton i have seen some setup on the earth side i dont why but anyway rep left

Haha, cheers guys
Yeah, 12:30am and so far the dash is back on, and the wiring funs have begun. I decided to re-wire my sound system, and run the wires properly so they're not all just stuffed behind the head unit. Did everything properly with solder, too - neatly sealing all the joins and twist-taping the wires into respective bundles. All looks dead factory now, and is tucked away nicely.
Now the real wiring nightmare begins, finding out what plugs and looms have fallen down from where they should be, and finding ways to tuck them back up into the right places.
Fun night ahead!

Awesome. Good luck with that
I've had my fun for tonight, mine was easy...
- Problem: fix the non functioning torque convertor lockup
- Fix: attach the plug that powers it
Only 11.10pm and I'm off to bed!

You sonofabitch, that's not a list ^_^ rofl I hate you
In other news, I thought I accidentally left a plug tucked up behind the dashboard, just spent an hour searching frantically through wiring diagrams, and trying to figure out what this final plug on the passenger side mated up to.
Just then, it clicked. That's the diagnostic plug.
Time for a coffee and cigarette I think. My brain is starting to fail me![]()

Slow progress is slow, but I want to make sure everything works first time.
Note the 500w spotties in the back seat. Damn those things keep the car toasty warmGot my stereo set up just behind them, too:

That was alot of work to gain a heater and lose 5 kilos![]()
Debatable employment of time if I only fixed the heater - but worth all the effort to learn more about exactly how the climate control system worksI like knowing how all the little spinny things go around, and where they all go!

lmao, no wonder my car never used to warm up. I just pulled out the old thermostat, It was rated at 74 deg, and had TWO holes drilled through it, not the factory one with a jiggler.
