Oh well I better go and do some work on finalising my stock 304 custom cam and ask Keith if he's going to grind the prototype for Mortons VQ :P
No worries i can pick it up if you want not an issue for me and i'll go toe to toe with your bursons prices on any engine parts we'll see which work gives a better dealI might be able to help with a good cam price for you too and anything else your after.
Cheers Pub
Was my analysis of the problem correct i get that that shaft is whats broken?

Let me know when you want to come and get the pump, and when it's convenient for you to drop off the new one. When I get some money coming in, I'll throw you a dime for the effort you're going toI appreciate it ^_^
I like this idea of going head-to-head with burson staff prices, it will certainly be interesting!!I daresay you may have the upper hand
hahaha

PUB is talking about the pump drive gear and shaft not the sleeve that is actually causing you all the dramas. The drive shaft is held to the drive gear which drives off the front of the cam by a roll pin, which i dare say is what PUB is referring to.
Oh right, yesI thought he meant there was a pin holding the sleeve onto the drive gear, and that had me second-guessing everything I know to date
There's no way to know anything 'till I get the timing cover off, which should happen tomorrow if I cbf![]()

Na, your right Morton, nothing holds that sleeve in usually. Unless ofcoarse, your engine is all carboned up, which in this instance is the case.....![]()
Yeah, there's going to be so much carbon in there, I'm considering sending it to Kevin Rudd for a rebate.

damn morton , not ever seen one of those break of before. seen the flat drive of the little drivesaft broken but not that.
as you are already going with the stock pump i won't need to suggest that also, however you can modify the stock pump to give a few more PSI at idle with a few basic mods if oyu have access to a die grinder and some wet&dry + flat surface

Yeah I've seen that shaft broken before that why i assumed it was the shaft. I also wonder how that sleeve broke it'd take something really weird for it to break and i'd assume itd break that shaft before it broke the sleeve
We got heaps of slide hammers at work i could borrow one if you want to use it morton

my god! your A machine morton...only plans for a sump and a cam? should do a 355 build ^_^
+1 for 355!! or at least find bits of that engine block that can come off or slim down!!
weighed my front seats today: passenger 16kg, driver 19kg
tore out the carpet and the rubber deadening mats.. layered deadener will come off in the next week or 2 hopefully, a bit at a time, until I can refinish the floor in a nice coat of whiteand leave it that way.

Haha, I'm going to find anything I can to remove and save a few grams up front
The plan right now, is for a conservative cam, baffled sump, flat top race pistons (bump up the compression a little bit) and new bearings throughout. New stuff like water pump, alternator, etc... Generally go around and recondition everything
Then stick it back in and get it to a dyno!
