also got a new oil pump aswell could possible be a related cause
My feeling as i said earlier in chatbox when we were talking is that oil is flooding top end and not draining back quick enough possibly be a blockage somewhere
Breathers could be an issue as you dont have a proper pcv system anymore ie there is no vacuum sucking crankcase pressure out

Congratulations! that's almost as sludged as mine was, wait till you see under the manifold. But suprisingly inside the motor was in much better condition than I expected. Mine was a wet sludge like the first picture, not crusty like Mortons but quite a bit worse than either, Anyway now after several days cleaning they bling like mirrors :P. Remind me to take a picture of them just like this when the rockers are back on
Why are we comparing the consistancy of 304 sludge, what's going on here lol.
Oh well is like a club to know you are not alone.
Hello, My name is Jason and my 304 has sludge, wet sludge

Morton, msn!, you need to see this crazy Chev tech I'm reading
A stand-alone sludge management system. Not a bad way to spend $10,000.
Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you have an inch of sludge or a mile; sludge is sludge.
Ok heres the thing, if you win you take my sludge clean and clear, but if i win i take the sludge and your respect! To some people sludge is more important...
aZk.
The sludge in my old VR became malignant, and started to spread to other parts of its body.....

this thread has more LOL's than the joke section allways a crackup coming in here .the v6 is bad for sludge too ive seen it over a CM thick in the rocker covers and under the valley many times
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
I've gone past the sludge in the valley of my VP, now I'm scraping carbon off, looks like dirt, feels like dirt mixed with sand lol, cant be goodanother 100 hours and I'll be clean (ish), ahha. The good news is, if you have enough carbon break free it might clean out the pickup on the way past :P
