its an executive, with 216000kms on it which isnt too bad for its age, tho i did notice an alarm system key switch in the passenger side door jam just above the checkstrap, is this normal or some kind of factory option? i've never seen one before. sucks tho cos i dont have the key for it

Its the factory alarm. Never seen an exec with it tho. Holdens can check the VIN and get the code for you, but you'll need a remote programmed to it before turning it on.

My old Series 1 VR Berlina had that key in the door pillar. The central locking is also controlled from that key - it can be turned on or off. Mine was always off because it was defective - if I activated it, the central locking would work one day and not the next, so it was turned off permanently.

As my car was a Series 1 VR, I guess it was similar to VP's in its operation.

My Vp Cost $400, with a few problems, ive spent almost 3 grand on it lowering it, and i have a custom hood lining, and a 2.5" exhaust but other than that she is pretty standard, she came with Statesman wheels, which have the gold holden emblem not the silver one, and she runs beautifully! good score Mate!
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

That key has nothing to do with central locking on VPs. It is to do with the immobiliser only. Of course, without it on, you wouldn't be able to use the remote to unlock the doors. But even when mine was off, all 4 doors would stiill lock and unlock with the key. Must have been a change for VR, or your car was just a tipical commodore with temperamental problems
