Hi im trying to find out how to adjust the the idle on my car i have an 89 VN Calais 3.8lt V6 as it is idling at 1500rpm's in Park and then when i change to drive it drops to 900 rpm i just put in a new coil pack as the one that was in it was stuffed and its sounding really great but i cant find the idle screw could someone tell me where it is on these engines as i have only worked on straight 6's years ago lol.
If anyone can help that would be awesome.![]()
they do not have an idle screw as such, but a solenoid/valve that controlls this called the IAC, try cleaning this and see how you go, heres a thread on it.

enjoy.
It could be as simple as adjusting the accelerator cable, back the plastic nut off so there is no pressure on the cable, just check. After you change anything on your computer ran commodore you should reset the computer, so remove the COMP fuse under the bonnet for 20 seconds, I thing of the top of my head that it is a 30 amp, its in a line of 4 in front of the relay cover. Just check those two things mate, let me know how you go.

and then from memory rev the car to 3000rpm for 8 seconds and all should be good.
