Cheers mate, thanks. I really like your Calais, nothing beats a nice VP Calais i reakon.
Just has the new badge on the bonnet. Switch near steering wheel turns the neons in the front footweels on/off.
looks good bro. very neat and tidy.....
Finally got the whole VP calais console into the car today. It looks soooo much better. And the center console light works too!
Ok so i want to install my power windows and electric mirrors, and possibly cruise control. The best way to do this is to install a calais loom. I think a VN calais (series 1) is the way to go as then i won't have to change the HVAC box as well.
Then just make my own loom for the extra lights i have added (That are standard on a VP Calais) This sounds like the easyist way to do this. I just need to know a few things:
1) Because I have an aftermarket alarm, is it worth installing factory central locking motors so it will have the deadlock function? I have the factory c/locking module somewhere so all I need is the motors. I basically want the deadlock feature.
2) How good are the power window closing modules that are on ebay and in Jaycar? Is it worth installing one?
3) How much should I be paying for a VN Calais loom?, I don't think they are are all that popular. But I have told some pretty stupid prices for them.
4) Completey unrelated, but is it possible to install/glue in a second roof light mounting bracket? I want my interior light back, and I wanna keep my roof mounted screen.
Any ideas are welcome.
Looks good man, will look tops when the kit is on.
The aftermarket alarm wont effect the deadlock feature.

If thats the case, then it sounds very easy to install power windows. I've got the door looms already. I know you can get the cruise control loom in a seperate loom for cars not fitted with it. Makes sence that you can get the power window loom too.
It seems i won't have to rip out the entire dash, and that makes me feel sooo much better.
Just spent most of today and all day yesturday getting my SS kit ready for paint. My god the side skirts I have are in **** condition. I am so over sanding these things, I wanna go buy some decent ones.
Also sanded my new front bumper
Also I'm having a problem with my handbrake. The black button and spring keeps popping out. How do I fix this? Glue?
Anyone have any ideas for this handbrake issue??? I just don't wanna glue the the stupid thing and jam the the handbrake in the up position or anything like that.
Just a few pics of my car. Because I can.
Got some tint for it as well. Done by Tint Proffesor. Looks good and really keeps the sun out.
Also looking at getting a VQ statesman interior for it. Not sure if the rear seats fit though. Can anyone help?
nice, cut and clean man keep up the cool work man looks awesome
get vq caprice interior. ... they are ****ing incredible
SIR LS1
the two ton go kart
i agree ^^^they look awesome.
Its the only Place in the world where you can be bleeding and having the time of your life.
rear seats fit. they just hand a bit over the door frame, but its not that bad, and can be easily modified to suit if it annoys you. is it vq series 1 or 2 interior?

1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
Its a VQ series 1 interior. The VQ Caprice one would be tops. But to much $$$ and very hard to find in good condition. But I think VQ seats and recovered doortrims would look good.
^^^ Thanks Stocky thats what I needed to know. legend.
so its just normal stato interior? in that case, series 1 is better than series 2. they had a better rear seat

Yeah standard Statesman interior. Is Series 1 better because the top of the seat is a 1 piece item, where Series 2 is a 3 piece job?
Okay, some updates on the VN. It's now rolling on 15" ceptors cos I can.
VQ stato seats are in and are a big improvement. There Series 2 seats, and harder to fit into a VN. Wasn't to hard to get the old seats out. I put some WD - 40 on the bolts and waited a day or two for it to soak in. There's a write up on Calais turbo on how to take the seats out. I followed that.
Some pics:
Ha!!!!
Its been awhile since this has been updated. Some little things here and there have been changed. Not much though. New things are:
- VN calais roof lining
- VR statesman passenger roof mirror light
- Whipped out the sliver paint pen, and hey - calais lights!
- Power window conversion - only one window done, but all wiring is done. Just have to swap regulators!
- Boot has been resprayed (home jobbie)
- Rear badges removed
- SS kit is soooo close to being ready, need more paint.
and now pics!
I'm a little confused, you have a Calais centre console, Statesman seats, it's an Executive and has Berlina badges....Looks good though...
almost sounds like my car haha. nothing wrong with a fully customised car though. is that light above the passenger side sun visor a normal calais thing? didnt know they had lights there
forgot to answer this months ago. series 1 are better because the rear seat is moulded into more of a bucket shape, like the higher model statos/senators/etc. check out my VN, or mortons VQ for an example. the colour is also a better blend with the VN interior

Haha
Its a very confused VN... Lots of different higher model stuff in it. Like:
- VP Calais centre console
- VQ series 2 seats
- VS calais rear felt pillers
- VP/VR/VS calais console and under dash green lights
- Rear map and passenger mirror lights
- Door lights (when finish doing the power windows)
- power windows and mirrors!!!! (coming soon)
All this and the car still has the original Executive loom...
Oh, and i put Berlina badges to make it look look better when i sprayed the bumpers red.![]()
