i reckon you should paint the stockies silver n get some centre caps n chrome trims
what suspension are you runnin aswell?

  3. Default

i don't know what suspension i'm running lol. it's probably near legal limit realistically.

some updates, because i haven't in a while

just replaced radiator, top hose, and thermostat. since i've had the car i've also replaced water pump and bottom hose. entire cooling system is pretty much new now.

also have installed some 6x9s powered by my headunit to get some bass happening. not enough though so i'll get a sub later on. pictures of that soon.

car also has new battery, new coil, new oxy sensor.

total cost so far: $8,659.50. keep in mind i'm sitting on stockies and my car's performance is stock or below

TO HAPPEN IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE:
    1. fix timing and install foam chip
    2. cut and polish
    2. fit new holden boot badge
    3. buy some new chrome strips for bumpers (it's like $55 off ebay, pretty good if you ask me)

it might be best to run those 6x9s of an amp as they need more power than a h/u and you will have more bass

  5. Default

yeah, i was about to do it but then thought if i was going to buy an amp, i may as well just get a sub because i probably still won't be happy with the 6x9s .

oh yeah another mod to add is for you to do some seats for me too haha. can you get the same colour interior as mine (pics first page)?

hokay, some new photos, and another update

today i decided to **** around with the timing, it's being all gay and shit. long story short - my timing is currently on 16 degrees, so i changed it back to 10 and put foamies tune in, but it still won't idle properly on it so he thinks i may have a cam. my current chip must be really weird, it runs no advance at idle (which is why i guess my timing is on 16 degrees )

and here is the promised photo of 6x9s. the parcel shelf was already botched, looks a lot better now. usually i hate spacers but these angled vinyl covered aerpro ones look really nice

HERE is the powerhouse. i'm going to paint the rocker covers red soon, any ideas on what i should do with the bananas? like how to clean that ugly crap peeling white paint off with it in the car?

and finally, a cheeky little rear shot i decided to take when i was looking at the car. haven't washed it in about 2 months, no idea how it stays this clean haha. just look at the brake dust on the wheels though - it's 1cm thick!

lol the purchase price was pretty good, but can't say much for the repairs so far!

plans? hmm... main thing is to keep it as a daily driver.
so i was thinking top mount supercharger. but been talking to some people, and it seems that i'll probably end up blowing a seal sooner or later.
pavtek do a nice ~320kw 355, but i have no idea what else is required for that. probably a highish stall, then i'd probably need to rebuild my transmission as well, and rebuild the diff...
LS2 conversion? i don't know much about them, but that could be nice as well, don't know how much more that would end up being over the 355, but the bonus is that it would be more drivable.

i really like the supercharger idea, and it's something i could do myself, but yeah i don't really know yet. if it wasn't enough power then i'd kick myself because i wouldn't know what to do next.

i'm thinking about some 3.7 gears for now, my cars bottom end is real shit but i'm quite happy when it gets up, so maybe i'll leave it at that and get a new toy instead

here are some stats to gander at, thinking it has a cam now. shit down low, good up top.
    18.3m: 2.52s
    100.6m: 6.57s
    201.2m: 9.85s @ 123.48km/h
    304.8m: 12.66s
    402.3m: 15.03s @ 154.84km/h

    Acceleration
    0-25km/h: 1.20s
    0-50km/h: 2.75s
    0-100km/h: 7.05s
    0-150km/h: 14.14s

no idea what to do about diff gears, will be driving 580KMs a week @ 100km/h, so i don't think diff gears are going to do me too good

i should find my ALDL cable for you. plug that up to a laptop and get some readouts from it maybe. dunno if that could help find if it has a cam or not

some 3.45's might actually be alright on the freeway, maybe lol
btw how did you get all that info? gtech?

not bad for a gassed vp

  19. Default

lol, well it was on petrol for the run, and i've got a bung iphone that runs apps so i installed this free one called "pocket dyno". works really good, from what i can tell it's accurate because there are 2 things i do know: my 0-100 time and how fast i was going by the end of the run. and it got both of them spot on, so there's no reason why the other data would be off

What about a manual conversion on the beast?

There is one on egay, the entire T5 kit for a V8 and the bids start at $700.

Bit of a lucky dip when it comes to the box and clutch though.

Mine has done about 200km in the last 12 months hehe.

  21. Default

haha yeah, manual would be alright but i wouldn't be able to fit it myself, plus knowing my luck i'd buy something dodgy

name a price and she's yours

    here's another little update:
bought a sub and amp (photos soon) to slow myself down even more
car hasn't been washed in about 4 months - paint is ruined cut and polish in summer i guess
brakes suck and are shaky? time for new discs and pads i think
AND it should be foam tuned soon, can't wait for that!
