yea not a bad sugetion haha! but i am fond of the pin stripe. i have tryed to get the commodore badge off and its a bugger so i have given up haha, wouldnt the paint underneath the black strips be a different colour though? thats what im worried about.

yeah i painted my back bumper (white).... i just sanded it so everything was smooth then primed it and then painted it and threw some clear over the top...
to be honest its not the best job but when the car eventually gets a full respray ill do some bars that are in better condition, i just wanted it to look better then it was...

as for the paint its just normal acrylic stuff, nothing fancy...

BTW for the badges, do what i done, heat them up with a heat gun (dont get to close and dont leave it in one spot) and just keep going over it for about a minute then rip them off

as said above for the badges heats them up with a heat gun and use a credit card, slide the card under the badge and it will peel off easier...

as for the paint it might be slightly brighter but with a good cut and polish you wont notice it

if you want something between a gloss and matt, then look for a satin finish.... that's what it was on my old vn

too late now, but unless your bumpers are really faded, then all you need to do is regulary apply some silicane shine to them.If you use a good quality product, it last's quite a while.Whatever you do, don't go removing the side strips like people have been telling you, it looks stupid, and takes away the car's originality. De-badging can look alright, but IMO, is only really suited to car's with colour coded bumpers. Keep it original i reckon, keep it looking tuff, there's no need to go around just pulling random bits of the body off here and there..

    Nice car btw

i used spray paint but sanded the bumpers back with 1000 grit then sprayed plastic-kote primer on it then jsut matte black spray paint, (Dont go cheapo spray or it will look cheapo lol), i also did the bit under my doors as it was charcoal aswell, paint your washer bottle and overflow matte black, do ur petrol tank straps black, and the tank itself silver, itl come up nice, but stll not a bad car ill post some pics of my mates, looks verrry similar to yours its white slammed on ceptors, just so u get an idea of how it will look
