hey guys a few ppl in a previous post wanted me to post how ive changed my standard plastic lumpy bumpy intake pipe with a smooth steel pipe, well here it is...
i used the rubber tubes to hold the steel together and connect to both ends of it, also got some clips from bunnings to hold it all together
p.s. ive got an ecotec v6 engine
Intercooler pipes and reducers? Looks good dude.

its been ticking in my mind all day lol, yea the pipe is an intercooler pipe en the rubber pipes hold it very tightly in place en the clips are for extra grip, nice and solid and no joke its the biggest improvement ive noticed with my car, acceleration is alot alot smoother and low/top end increased also
i sent ya a pm dude, also how much all of it set you back, cus i was looking at the piping in supercheap the other day it was pretty expensive, also would supercheap or autobarn have them metal clamps?
thats pretty sweet, the steel part would look sweet as with a carbon fibre look. i want to do a direct cold air intake to the box with intercooler piping using the fog light holes in the bar. i have had it up on my hoist and had a look and its decent job unfortunatly, i reckon it would be a mad improvement. just gota overcome the moisture/water aspect.. from the road and rain etc..

yea supercheap did have them but bunnings a bit cheaper, also all together it cost me roughly 110 bucks its the rubber thats expensive, the intercooler pipe sets u back 35 bucks, rubber pipe about 30cm long 60 bucks and clamps are 3 bucks each from bunnings i think it was 10 at supercheap not sure
no worries buddy enjoy en take care![]()
dude i had a idea in my head of wat i wanted but couldnt really make it work
and i come on and see this and its awesome
good work dude
looks good mate
what size does the rubber hose say it is? my measurements suggest 80mm is the go but wanted to check... dont want to be 1mm too loose!
and one last thing... do you remember which section of bunnings the rubber hose was in?
plumbing? gardening?
whenever i go there knowing exactly what i want it takes me ages to actually find it in there haha
thanks again mate
ive seen them rubber parts at supercheap too they will do the same job wont they?
looks awesome mate i've been wondering how to do that, will be doing that in the near future for sure. Cheers!
ill need the same size as you, so basically length doesnt matter to much, it just needs to be about 60mm for the part that goes onto the maf and throttle body
well i went to supercheap and autobarn today, bascially 2 things went wrong firstly the steel pipe was too long and the fella at autobarn told me that steel attracts heat so no point putting that on cus it will just heat up the air going to the engine so im thinking of just using all of that silocan stuff you used is that possible?
yea that could be done if u wanted to, not sure how it would work tho, and ive felt my pipe after a decent drive and it was fine so dunno what that guy was talking about lol
lol what size is ur pipe man? diameter and length wise, im also guesing you got that silocan in one long tube cus the auto stoors only had pre bent crap![]()
umm the pipe im not sure i just bought the first intercooler pipe i saw lol, it was pretty long like the one you mentioned before but i just slid it more into the silocan to compensate, yea the silocan was also a 90 degree pre bent 30cm long tube so i used a stanly knive and cut the amounts out i needed, the straight silocan tubes wernt big enough so i had to get pre bent
oh ok mite have been the same stuff that i saw, you know i mite just go bunnings get that silocan from there like u did and i mite just get piping from there too surely they wud have some sort of metal piping, reakon they would?
also was that silocan from the plumbing section in bunnings?
