hi im doing the head gasket an manifold gasket on my gf vs commodore can any one give me any advice on how the remove the gasket stuck to the head an block was goin to take it to a engine reconditioner but i live a long way from any town ??? any solvent i could put on to softn the gasket an scarp it off may be???

acetone (Nail polish remover) and a razor blade, oh and good luck, be carefull witht hat blade, not just for your fingers, but the the surface you are cleaning too, don't want any nasty deep scratches in it.

you could use any solvent really, a wax and grease remover, metho, whatever you've got sitting around.
i'd be super carefull though as those surfaces need to mate up perfectly for a good seal. ideally you'd have the heads milled back true again, but if that's not possible where you live you could give it a really gentle sand back (not by hand).
