Heat issue?

Went to Adelaide last week for a concert (was fantastic). But when stopped at the lights I was watching my temp gauge and it made its way up to the half way mark. Anyway a while ago the local holden dealership told me that turning on the air con will automatically turn on the thermo fan. So on goes the air con and down goes the heat. So i am assuming that this means the fan is turning it self on. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Cheers.

You don't need to do anything - what you describe is perfectly normal....the cooling fan will not come on till the gauge reaches 3/4 and it will be on it's low speed. If you turn the air on at any time the fan will immediately come on at high speed.

Ah ok cool, thanks a lot mate. Its good to know that my car isn't going to spontaneously combust anytime soon :P
