Ok hears the story.
When i was driving my VS commodore this afternoon the car at low speed started having a misfire and then the engine just turned off, all the lights on the dash stayed alight but the car switches off, i loose my power steering and the car doesn't wanna start again until at least 10 minutes after the car has stalled. When i do start the car again it idles rough and sounds like the car keeps loosing power and throttle response is poor, and the more load i put on the car for example, going slow around a car park and then put the power steering to full lock it idles rough again and switches off.
This same problem happend 2 months ago whilst driving in a busy intersection and turning a corner at slow speed. I took it to an auto electrician he said it was the negative battery terminal so he replaced it and then it worked fine up until today, so i rang the auto electrician again at around lunch time and he came and cleaned the positive terminal started fine but happend again this afternoon????
It definitely sounds like an alternator problem but the guy i bought it off just replaced it before i bought it off him.
Anyone had this problem its quiet scary lol
V6 or V8 BT1?
If a V6, it could possibly be the coil pack. If a 5 litre, your coil may be rooted or something is earthing out somewhere.

Try replacing the coil pack mate. My old VP V6 did exactly what yours did until i replaced the coil pack.

Similar thing happened to me and it was the DFI module. Its the ignition module that sits under the 3 coil packs. Easy to replace. Some shops sell a kit , with 3 standard coils and the module for $300.
Check you have spark on all 6 cylinders.
Yes, that's what i also replaced along with the coil pack. If anything, it would be the DFI module more than the coil pack, you can usually buy them together, i think the DFI modules cost a bit from memory. Up around the $200 - $250 mark. I may be thinking of something else though.
My old car used to cut out on main roads, i'd lose everything bar the radio and would have to use the car's momentum to roll it up the gutter etc to get out and pop the bonnet. This is where the gutters are smooth and rounded though, not flat edged like they usually are lol.
But yes it scares the shitta out of you at first.

But thanks alot guys ill mention the coil pack ect to the auto electrician tomoz!
Yeah definantly dangerous too!
If your auto elec stuffs you around and says it's not the DFI module, tell him you will be back, go buy a DFI module and coil pack yourself and fit it, very very easy to do. You only need a wrench and one sized socket i believe.

That may have just helped. I'm not saying 100% it IS the DFI module / coil pack, but it sounds alot like it. You may also have a dodgy wire up to your battery. Couldn't really tell you without testing it all out etc.
But if you replace the DFI module and that's not what it was, then at least that's one less thing you will have to worry about in the future![]()

All good dude. Good luck with it!

Checked your error codes ? that should tell you something.
mine only cuts out really at low speeds for example at traffic lights starts to loose power ect wierd shit.
Only in low speeds? Hmmm nah that doesn't sound like the DFI module then, that's weird.

EDIT : Cleaned your IAC port lately ?
lol back to square 1 again
ok i started the car it idled ruff sounded like an electrical missfire of somesort then throttle response was delayed like half a second after i put my foot down it would then accelerate then when i travel slow and turn a corner it missfires like a bad earth or somthing car shakes then stalls and keeps rolling the dash is still lite up i turn the key off try start it and then nothing , wait 10 mins then starts runs rough again and does the same shit.
its so retarded lol
i was having this problem and no1 seem to be able to fix it but i had moved my battery to boot mine used to happen as you say low speed like taking off from lights and wat not
i upgraded all of the main earths in my car i now have 2 in the boot one gogin to jsut the boot lid and one going down to the main chassis where the tow bar used to bolt onto then at the front of car i made a connection from main earthing down to chassis this helped it for a while but just recently i sparked the battery by accident on the motor as i was doing roller rockers and alternator was in the way so the active touched motor and it sparked huge and so im thinking a blew an earth somewhere else so its started playing up again so i put another earth on and now its doing it sometimes but not as much i didnt sand the earthing place back so once i do that i shall give you feedback but im pretty sure this is your problem
starting to sound like plugs , leads , or coil packs
just got new plugs, if it was leads this would of been happening every day, coil pack sounds likley in a way as well but it only happens on monthly periods. ****ed if i know lol
HI Mine done the same driving at 100klms motor shuts down on freeway. Rolled to a stop and then try to restart, idles but when you put accelerator down no go no power would only go upto 60 klms. Anyway got it home very slowly start up next morning car back to normal. Few days later same thing happens again. I put it in to auto tech and found that the fuel pump in petrol tank had to be replaced. No more problems.

If it was the coil pack, it would cut out at high and low speeds wouldn't it? Not just low speed / revs??? Wouldn't really make a difference what speed you were going would it?
