Alternator Problem

Hi,
I have a 96 VS Commodore Equipe and lately the 10mm cable that runs to the bottom of the alternator is burning out causing the car to die. It has happened about 4 times over the past 6 months. The alternator is only about 1 year old and has probably done about 4000kms
Is this a common problem and does anyone have any suggestions as to overcoming this annoyance?

Hi , this is not really a problem for us as we dont specialize in auto electrics. Maybe a good auto electrician is the one to talk to.

The local auto elecy recons to replace the whole wire with a larger one. When he sells new alternator he fits larger wires or he refuses any warranty claims on them.
