    Default VS cruise control issues

    G'day all,
I have a problem with the cruise control in my VS Caprice.
The green CRZ light on the dash stays lit, yet the cruise wont work.
I cant turn it on/off, & none of the other functions on the stalk are working.
I have tried unplugging the fuse, hoping that it might reset, but that didn't work either.
I'm not sure where to start looking.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Cheers, Col.

Since none of the controls on the stalk are working you might need to replace the stalk.

All the globes are working. So lets eliminate that!
Fortunately the Caprice has a "Hey idiot, one of your globes are blown" warning light.
Just to be sure , i checked. LOL

Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming.

Because the cruise light comes on means the power to the stalk is ok and the feed out turning it on is ok but you need the on light to come on from the set button...it is common for one of the small wires to break off inside the stalk....and the brake switch not being adjusted properly causes the same fault.

If you cannot turn the green CRS light off that would indicate a problem with the stalk which is not hard to replace - new ones are about $60 on Ebay for a genuine one.
You also say you pulled the fuse to reset it - you may need to disconnect the battery as the fuse you pulled does not reset the electronics in the BCM and ECU....may be worth a try.

    Did you have any luck?

I have the same issue... I would say it is the stalk as my son was playing in the drivers seat and was using a fair amount of force on it. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the wires snapped off inside it.

I was going to buy one off eBay and re-install it to see if that fixes the problem.

Does anyone know of a "how-to" guide on this forum for replacing the cruise / indicator stalk?

Here are the instructions - they relate to VT-VX models but also includes instructions specific to the VS.

    Thanks "jafo" and "hako".

    Looks pretty simple.

I bought a new stalk off eBay for $44 delivered... so will install it next week.

I'll let you know how I go.

I bought a used stalk from feepay. When i took it out of the box, the cruise wires were cut!
By this time i had already had the steering column covers off & i could see 2 broken wires, so i just soldered them back together. Everything works again.
There was no need to remove the steering wheel.
