Hi Guys/Girls I'm after for some opinions
I suspect my auto transmission is on it's way out. If i accelerate heavily, the change from 1st to 2nd slips. Doesn't slip if its at comfortable acceleration. Also, If i drive over 80 km/h or on the freeway, my car violently shakes if i accelerate. This is in 4th gear cruising. However, if i change it to 3rd on the freeway, it doesn't shudder. Some opinions/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,![]()

The title of this thread is quite funny..... I Think I Have Tranny Problems...

Yeah thanks man, your input has been of great assistance -.-

take to tranny place see what they say. might just need a service
Violent shrudder may mean u need a wheel alignment, also check ur auto transmission fluid level
Forecast For Tonight Is Alcohol, Low Standards And Poor Decisions.
sounds like clutch plates are burning and slipping, try service and add sum anti slipping fluid. or run up your codes and see if its a solinoid. and if your having trouble for your tranny go to bali they are cheep and a dime a dozen
for a really good tranny go to Thailand![]()
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
I agree, should be more careful when wording thread titles. I was going to direct you here The Gender Centre Inc. as I figured they would be more help than a Commodore Forum![]()
sashyre only you would know that
Check fluid level and colour - if OK and reddish or even slightly brownish add a transmission conditioner - one designed to stop slipping....
If the fluid level is low - top up.
From the sounds of things you probably are correct and your trans is on the way out...unfortunately.
When they fail, unless it is something simple like solenoids or dirt in the valve body, it is cheaper to replace or reco the entire transmission.
But that's just my opinion.
lol thank you for all your opinions, i just realised about the title haha my bad.

The violent shudder in 4th gear will be the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) stuffing up and not locking properly. My VS commodore does the same thing except mine shifts fine everywhere else. Im getting a new transmission instead of just the TCC as I was told it would cost close to $800 for the just TCC and then I would still have the original 170000km old gear box in there. Instead I am getting a reco'd transmission for like $2000, as its far better money spent.
