    Default Clear oil leak

    G'day all,

I have a clear oil leak under my vr statesman 5lt. At first it was a small drop the size of a 10 cent coin, But today I noticed spots of it around the front right wheel arch and down that side of the car even on the back of the car.

what do you guys recon it is? Any help is appreciated.

    Brake fluid?

Start by checking all your reservoirs in the engine bay, then get under there with a torch and see if you can find the source.

Yep, what he said, plus on top of that brake fluid is one of the only fluids that doesn't seriously discolour throughout it's life (well, that and powersteering, which is usually red).

Brake fluid is most commonly green, and sometimes now clear.

If it's only a spot it could be any colour - the colouring of all oils is faint and a spot is only a few microns thick so most oils will look clear. Brake fluid strips paint. So all you can do is what danja says - look all over the car with a torch and check all fluid level.
