hey guys...
did a search on this and surprisingly couldn't find anything.
the checkstrap (part between the 2 door hinges) on my VS drivers side door is stuffed and needs replacing. it clicks, grinds, squeeks... you name it, it does it
is easy enough to pop the pin out to remove the connection to chassy, but how do you remove the connection from inside the door itself?
theres 2 bolts in there... if i undo these will it just pop out and can i pop the new one in... or do i have to remove door trims etc. and tackle it from the inside.
any help would be appreciated
Ive had the issue on other cars before, i gave it a good clean and sprayed some chain lube on it, problem fixed.
Might be worth a try chain lube is used on motorbike chains, can be dear to buy so ask any of your friends with a bike if they have some you can use to try and fix the problem.
yeah, i popped the pin, cleaned everything up with terps and sprayed it with silicone spray. helped a lot, but the door still cracks and is not as smooth as the others.
i noticed aswell that the pin moves around a bit (horizontally) as the door opens and closes. this seems to be whats causing the problem...
anyone got any advice?
My VR was like that and my pin is loose. A good lubricant, as tt450 says, like chain lube. Mine is now quiet. Bitch to work on. I think the pin is just a roll pin, will check mine tomorow for you.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
yeah seems to do the trick, but rather than just quiet things up i'd like to have the door nice and smooth like it just came from the factory
i get the feeling the pin moving around is whats making the door feel a little rough when opening/closing
