i have a whiney noise that comes from right behind my steering wheel where it joins too the collumb , it only lasts for a few minutes when the car hasnt been driven for a while leading me too believe its a bearing that needs lubing or something.
just checking what it could be before i go spraying WD40 into places it may not belong.
yeah man my VS does it too, your right it is not the power steering.
its actually rubber boot. im not too sure how to fix it, its not a problem at all besides the fact that its very annoying.
sorry i couldnt be more help but yeah thats what it is.
u can get some silicon spray or graphite spray to spray round the boot, and no more groaning
can i spray some wd40 in there without taking the wheel off?
its not actually up there. its the boot that goes through the firewall. follow your steering column into the engine bay and you will see the boot.
can i get too that without taking things apart besides the cover under the wheel?
don't need to take anything off, just find it and lube it up best you can... make sure you get right in there
so WD40 ok then?
nah, try use grease for a more permanent result
