So i definitely have water in my oil, a fair amount by the looks of it too. Did a compression test last night, and it was ok. I'm unsure of what to do next? I need the car back on the road by tuesday. any ideas would be good. thanks
I'd be replacing your inlet manifold gaskets.
that's what i was thinking, but was told if the inlet manifold gaskets were gone it would show up on a compression test? is this correct? One cylinder was a bit down compared to the rest, but was still in the normal range. This is driving me up the wall. I need my car back on the road ASAP. Thinking i might just bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic. I dont have time to waste with this guesswork
Water in your oil and by the sounds of it a large amount normally means your Head Gaskets are blown. Could be your inlet manifold gaskets but I'm leaning more towards Head Gaskets. Best bet with situations like these is to take it to a mechanic. Probably wouldn't advise to kick it over either, thats IF the head gaskets are gone.
inlet manifold will not show up on a compression check as its ontop of the heads.
Are you sure it is coolant going into the oil? Is the oil on the dipstick milky or just under the oil filler cap? If it is just on the cap, it could be just condensation. Have the cooling system pressure tested.
(Wow....5005 posts.....)
Yes, coolant is definently in the oil. dipstick is milky. My biggest problem is the car is in my garage at home. Don't want to drive it and risk any further damage. So getting it to a mechanic is quite difficult under the circumstances. Im thinking i might drain the oil and put fresh oil in and limp it the 20kms i have to my mechanic. was hoping to be able to fix it ourselves as funds are limited, but so is time. other car runs out of rego on tuesday and have a baby due to be born any day now...
Oh Drag dude! What a time to have anything happen at once. Unfortunately for you it does sound like your head gaskets are gone if its under the oil cap and on the dipstick. Your best bet is a tow truck, unless you want to do your heads as well then your looking at even more money around $1000 or more.
I'm thinking intake manifold gasket, very common on the V6.
Me, I am thinking Head Gasket but if you are going to do Head Gaskets you should do inlet gasket as well.
