vr 95 sII executive gearbox probs

Hey i own a vr and my gearbox drives in D fine but for some reason it dont drop down gears, i can put it in 1 or 2 n it drops down, also reverse dont work at all.... iv been told to tighten the kick down cable or tighten up the bands..? cheers

it wont have a kickdown cable....cause its computerised.VN's and VP have kickdown...have you checked your fluid levels?....also might be past fixing (without rebuilding.) im selling my Rebuilt box (40,000km's) for $600. but im in Lismore, Northcoast so yeah...

problem with no reverse in tranny is the sun gear shell, its either broken or strip spline on the shell. so most probably you need a rebuilt or seconhand one.
