Hi Guys,
my thermo fan on my VS Calais wont turn off, checked all fuses and changed the relays around with no luck.
I then decided to unplug the coolant temp sensor connector next to the thermostat and still it had no effect.
Checked for error codes and came up with nothing.
If l pull the relay off, then the fan will turn off or if l switch the car off.
I am puzzled here, any help would be great.
cheers
anyone please?
b u m p?? Has anyone experienced this before? I swapped the lo fan relays around with no luck!
Since it comes on when you turn on the AirCon perhaps something funny is going on the AirCon side of things
are there 2 sensors at your thermostat ?
my vs v6 series 1 has 2 . 1 for the gauge on the dash & the other for ecu .
which 1 ( if u have 2 there ) did u disconnect ?
l disconnected the one that goes near the thermostat, not the gauge sensor. No matter if the AC is on or off it still stays on??
have tried pulling the AC fuses and relays ?
^^^ What he said. It'll be something to do with the piece of ____ climate control unit. My parnters car does the same thing... but the climate control unit is always cutting in and out so the fan cuts in and out too.

but the climate control unit is switched off which means the fan should stay off for the radiator?? Maybe could be a wiring or a ECU problem>?
Does the fan turn on as soon as you start the engine or does it take a minute or so before it starts up? I have the latter problem although mine is a V8 not a V6. If it turns on straight away it's either a coolant temperature sensor problem (in which case you should have a DTC set) or a wire that is shorting to earth - circuit 304 from the PCM or the pressure switch. If it turns on after a minute or so I think it means a faulty A/C pressure switch. However, to replace the pressure switch you need to discharge and recharge the system afterwards. I haven't been prepared to do this for the moment.
Hi mate,
problem has come back again, as soon as the ignition is on the fan comes on, l think it might be the temp sensor?
Because now that the fan problem has come up the a/c compressor isn't working, any help would be great....
oh l might just go to the f&%kn electricians and they will charge me an arm and leg
thanks
Probably not great to post in the two different threads but this is the one I'm reading atm.
This may help:
http://www.memcals.com/pdf/VSV6%20Au...%20Diagram.pdf
that gives me a headache, only if l did a course in elec autos.....
its got me confused as to why it has started doing what it was doing b4....
The fans are probably coming on because the the A/C has lost it's gas....this will set a fault and the ECU will then turn the fans on in a scattergun approach to saving the engine from self-destructing.
hi hako, just checked the ecu fault codes and nothing came up, but the fans still on, l will go in the morning and see what the mechanic has to say...
thanks for your help.
how did you go with this problem as its happening to me at the moment it was running on for nearly 2-3 hours the other day after driving to a mates place and had to remove the realy for it to switch off
