hey guys/girls, i got some callais/belina window surrounds from me mates car and wanteing to put them on my VS, now i know how to install them and all but is there a way of repainting the black area on them? so it looks like it was from new lol....? like the rubber part as these ones have faded/pealed i guess u could say, pretty much teh same as most commodores (vn-vs) surrounds on teh windows, if that makes sence lol
if so what paint etc should i use?
i have attached a pic
thanks
i also have this problem with my just black executive window surrounds which have cracked and peeled off to an ugly grey in spots
I have painted my Vp rubbers before with cheap black pressure pack paint ,they lasted 2 years before they needed to be done again ,I just gave them a ligth sand and washed them with turps
I painted mine with AutoOne black acrylic in a pressure pack can, about 4 years ago. I applied it directly to the trim, without primer or undercoat and with a good result. No flaking or peeling. I rubbed the trim down with very fine wet and dry abrasive paper.
I would have to agree in the end thats the best way,
I was buying heaps of bits of trim a year or two ago to test on, ended up with VHT or K&H cant remember which one, vinyl and plastic paint, give it a rub down with some fine wet and dry and at the most use a little stop putty in any minor pitting that may have occured, thens traight on with the black, leave it alone for two weeks then hit it with meguires black trim polish.
Worked well for me.
cheers guys...im thinking just some acrylic pressure pack black...gloss or satin?
all suggestions appreciated![]()
