    Default VS Enquiry

    Hey guys new around here,
Possibly going to look at a VS tomorrow... Just want to know what I should look for and ask a few Q's.
-What should I look for/Common Problems?
-What are they like perfomance wise?
-How hard is it to obtain parts and service?
And anything else I should know..
    Thanks in advance guys.

Great car the VS. I just sold my VS S Pack Series 2 V6 5sp Manual after 3 years of owning. Main thing to look at is pull the spare wheel out and look for rust in bottom of spare wheel arch. My VS had a leak from the side rear-most window as most VS Commodores do, and it had rusted a hole right through the wheel well.

Do the normal checks and check condition of oil and if all fluid levels are correct. Check condition coolant too in the reservoir and under the cap. Coolant should be nice and green. This can be an indication of lack of maintenance if power steer, brake, coolant levels are not to the specified levels or are in need of a flush/change.

Take car for a drive and feel for flat spots upon acceleration, turn the wheel tight right and slow drive around in a cirlce and listen for any suspension noises or steering noises, then do a left tight circle slowly.

If its a manual, then you will most likely get a whine from the gearbox under modest or heavy acceleration. This is a common noise for VS's and mine did that for its whole life while I owned and it didn't miss a beat.....just keep clutch fluid topped up.

Make sure odometer is still ticking over. Sometimes it may be intermittent, and if the car you test drive is not working at that time, then the km's on the odometer will be incorrect and impossible to know the true km's travelled.

Check roof lining. My VS had sagging roof lining really bad. The previous owner just used staples to hold it up. I didn't bother getting it professionally fixed, but at the time when I sold it, it was badly sagging moreso than when I first purchased.

Most things are general and relate to all cars but overall the VS is a nice car, but as with many models, certain little issues can arise.

    Goodluck.
