I have had a look around the forum but can't find exactly what i need to know. I want to put a set of 20's(x 8.5) on my stato but was wondering if there will be any issues in short term (scrubbing etc) and also long term (camber wear etc). the car is not being lowered. thanks
The Only issues will be with the Police & Department of transport inspectors
yeh i checked that and apparently in QLD they are legal because they are load rated and within 15mm rolling diameter. my main issue is camber wear, or will that be irrelevant seeing as it isn't lowered?
anything with IRS will have camber wear, but stock height is minimal effect compared to lowered height. So while yours will have it, it'll be fairly negligible.
guards will probably have to be rolled, possibly lipped.

The VZ is here! About time!
I run 18's because thats what I was told as the Maxium size you were allowed to run in QLD ,but their are heaps of statesmans running 19's & 20's that are lowered without any dramas ,so you shouldnt have any problems as long as your overall wheel diameter doesnt exceed the original diameter and if camber is a problem get some adjustable strut plates ,but I wonder if they will put more load on your bearing hubs ?
Yeh i thought it was 2 inchs extra but the guys at f1 wheel and tyre (Gold Coast) swore different. i will just get them engineered if need be, my main worry is the scrubbing and camber wear, because i don't want to to spend 3k on package then realise i need camber kit etc. thanks
2 inch rule long gone.. it was an ADR Rule which was replaced by the Maximum of 15mm increase in diameter and 25mm maximum increase in width rules.
Just make sure you have the correct diameters, load ratings and you will be sweet.
You will want to look at a camber kit though even if the car isn't lowered much... The holden IRS squat badly upto the VXII and not SO bady there after... but considering how much tyres will cost you... may aswell get maximum life out of them.
ive got 20s on my car mate, and fits easy.
SSL front SSSL rears, and 4point camber on the back so it dosnt eat tyres out.
no scrubbing at all on the rear, just the front on full lock
if u want to know more just as me
bolt them up, will be fine...
once you see it at standard height with 20's tho, i guarantee you'll end up lowering it
all depends on tyres and how low you want it...rear with 225s -245s you can have it on the bump stops front i wouldnt go any lower than pedders sports ryder springs or ssl kings with 225s.
thanks for all the comments/tips fellas..might reconsider 20's, practicality and cost is just going to be too much of an issue i think :S
cops will rape u 7 days a week.i got 2 defects in 2 months with 20's.bottom line is cops r ****in ****s.and should stop hassling us
hey mate, i've got 20 x 8.5 on mine. ssl front, sssl rear, rolled guards, camber kit. no problems at all. never give it a hard time. slight scrubbing on front, but helps a bit if you roll your guards. never had a problem with the police. just get your tyre size right man. rear tyre wear will be more prominent, but to be expected. thats one you just have to cop. most custom wheel places will know what to do. hope it helps. cheers
well i didnt ****in know u lived in a different state so im so so sorry.and yes there ****s.
