    Default VS leaking coolant...

so i FINALLY had my VS running right and then i discovered its leaking coolant... a couple weeks ago it like pretty much overheated cuz it was out of coolant, but i didn't really think much of it... just flushed it, changed the thermostat and put new coolant in.... then the other day i realised it's leaking... but it doesn't look like its coming from the radiator..
for what it's worth, i had an accident a couple of months ago that did a fair amount of damage to my front end.... but i haven't had any problems til now
    any ideas??

get it pressure tested and find out where the leak is and fix the problem

could be leaking radiator or heater hoses or could be the water pump seal. have to look abit harder should be able to see where it is coming from but these are a few places to check!

There should be traces of a whitish colour from where its leaking, check around all hoses and the water pump, get under the car and look for the whitish colour. If you cant see anything get a pressure test from a radiator shop.

Did you bleed the system? it can cause the overflow to dump coolant if you didnt, also if its coming out above your gearbox it could be a heater core problem

If you overheated it there's a possibility you may have done and intake manifold gasket which is not the worst thing in the world. Or possibly a head gasket. Are you seeing any signs of oil under the radiator cap or milky oil?

If I were you i would check the plastic top part of the radiator, your hoses and your heater tap.
Most heater taps become brittle and break apart. Check your hose clamps arent coming undone...

As said, get it pressure tested and the leak will reveal itself pretty quick smart.

I had a very similar problem, turned out to be a combonation of both the water pump housing and the heater hose assembally. Everything gets pretty brittle after 14 odd years.

you can get a uv dye to add to your coolant and then use a uv light to find the source of the leak

Fill up your Radiator, take it for a run until the hoses get pressurized, get a thick piece of clothing or rag and give all of your hoses a squeeze at both ends. It sounds like you just have a split in one of your hoses somewhere. Normally its where the clamp is, so you can't see it unless you give it a squeeze when they are all Pressurized.

just an idea i had a very simular problem with my vs ecotec and it wasn't till i had a gearbox blow up that i found my water problem. once the gearbox is removed and you remove the flywheel there is a plateon the rear of the block which holds the rear main seal and also covers water jackets and found that if your car has got really hot the first thing to cause a problem is this plate as it worps and wont seal. i bought a new one from holden and just to give you an idea it cost me $140 to buy and it come with a new plate new rear main seal 12 bolts and 12 special seals for the bolts. so if you get th chance to get under the car or get some else to check around the bellhousing and in between the sump and gearbox as thats where it will leak

Heater core, heater hoses, radiator hoses, cracked radiator, welsh plugs (most likely not if you are losing coolant fast), or if you are filling up your resevoir to almost full (way above the "max" mark) it will dump coolant (overflow), also could be the inlet manifold gasket.
