    Default vr front wheel bearings

hi guys. i have just bought a vr acclaim and have a question on the front wheel bearings/hubs. when i bought the car it was pretty well perfect. ive had it for 1 month now and when slowing down i notice what sounds like a rrrrrr...rrrrrr......rrrrrrr noise(sorry for the crap explanation of the noise but thats what it sounds like) from what i think is the front left hand wheel. it is only noticeable at around 30kmh and under, and sometimes at around 110kmh. does this sound like the front hubs failing? there is no brake shudder at all and it doesnt pull to one side under braking. it is fitted with a vt brake upgrade so if i had to replace the wheel hubs would i use vt or vr hubs? any info would be very helpful

Does it have ABS, if it has the bearings are a sealed unit and are fairly expensive. I paid $395 from Holden about 2 years ago for 1, and it wasn't the problem it was a warped brake disc and I couldn't feel it through the steering.
Check everything before doing the bearings. They very rarely go I have been told.

yes the car does have abs. i have checked the pads and they are about 1/2 worn. yes ive priced the hubs and yes they are expensive. the cheapest ive found are $140 a side for non genuine. although if i had to replace them id probably go for genuine ones. ive heard a few sus non gen hubs out there. thanks for your replies guys

how many k's on your car mate?

any play in the hubs? (jack the car up on the corner of the suspect hub, grab the wheels side to side and shake, top and bottom and shake)

Non-abs also has the sealed unit doesn't it? I thought from VR onwards, they were always sealed, abs or not..

Only ABS on VR VS. Not sure on older models but I assume they are as they all have ABS Standard

There are three types of sealed front wheel hubs on VR/VS models for:
    1. Vehicles without ABS
    2. Vehicles with ABS and 5 link rear suspension
    3. Vehicles with ABS and IRS rear suspension
