Ok I got another one for you guys.
I have a VR statesman V8. I just had the oil pump replaced and about 3 weeks later the oil light is on. It has new oil and filter.
I rang the bloke who fitted the oil pump, and he said undo the bolt on the side of the oil pump, take out the spring and the other thing and stick a screwdriver with a rag up the hole to give a clean.
did all that but the light still remains. The engine sounds good on start up maybe a little tapitey but sounds good for the amount of K'S 250XXX.
What do you guys recon I might be?
Have you checked your error codes?
last time I checked which was 8 hours before the light come on I got 12-OK, 31 Theft deterrent signal missing key buggerd?, 44 O2 lean, 45 O2 rich (its on gas) and 46 No Reference signal while cranking????
Any one ells?
you're lucky you can even start it when you get error 31, I couldnt even get it to crank over when this one started playing up.
I thought the 5.0L only had one oxy sensor, so how can it be rich and lean at the same time?
no idea mate, may be a faulty ecu, but dont take that as gospel
Could be a faulty switch, fairly common problem for both the V6 and V8 engines. When you had the oil pump replaced, I'm assuming that the mechanic also cleaned or replaced the pickup as well? They have a tendency to get blocked fairly easily, especially if oil changes have been skipped in the past.
Do Holden Vs stock radiators have a bleeder at the bottom, or got ttake off bottom hose![]()

Check if you actually have oil pressure by removing a rocker cover - check that oil is coming from the rockers indicating oil is being pumped thru the system. If it"s not being oiled I wouldn't drive the car. The thing the mechanic asked you to remove and clean is the oil pressure relief valve - possibly he figured that some dirt had blocked the valve making it stay open all the time - this dumps the oil back to the sump instead of into the oilways. Good Luck.
Think you might have posted this in the wrong thread mate, but no, if you need to drain the radiator you need to remove the bottom hose, and this will still leave plenty of coolant in the block too. There is a bleed point on the top of the thermostat outlet at the top of the engine though.
Have yoou checked the oil level?
when is hot?

Rito, well if possible find a mech with a fairly good scanner which can read oil pressure switch operation, if not just replace it...they fairly cheap. and checking oil level won't hurt...and "greenacc" made a good suggestion jus remove oil filler cap to see if you got oil circulating. My other note refers to the rich/lean codes present in ECU...even on gas the sensor should still operate normally which is once warm operate in lambda...if the sensor stays either rich or lean for longer than something like 15 secs or so it will register a code. This said i would be getting a good gas tune and if this is still registering replace the sensor...also could have a bad earth on it. lol so many things and i'm going of topic...lmao sorry champ um...yeh couple of things to try...hit me bak any q's

its definitely your oil filter, upgrade it to a k&n and it'll solve your problem![]()
