with the front brake discs do the just pull off like the back discs or are they fixed on some how

just need to remove the brake caliper and it should come off

They can take a bit of encouragement to come loose. If you aren't using the discs again you can just go to town on them with a hammer, otherwise you will need to be a bit more careful

rubber mallet from behind will get them off once you remove the caliper
