just yesterday i noticed that my car was squeeking from the front right of the engine bay, im guessing that its a belt that needs to be replaced, but not sure, wondering if anyone has had this same problem and what it is and how much it would be to fix and how soon it needs to be done?
also i hve noticed sometimes when im in the hills driving in third if im just cruising and then go to accelerate takes a second to kick into gear...does this mean my trans is on the way out?
Yeah changing the belt would be the first thing I would try - I had a similar problem, that got worse as the engine got warmer. Replacing the belt fixed it.
or just try soap on the belt. only change belt if got cracks in it

It probably is not the belt - usual cause is a bad pulley bearing gone dry and squealing. Remove the belt and spin each pulley by hand to find the dry bearing. New pulleys with bearings are about $30 ea.
I'd fix this soon as if the bearing fails completely it will throw the belt and you will be stranded on the side of the road.
