nice nice , it wont be cherpin in 3rd anymore. sounds like the main or big end bearings have had it. does it get louder when u give it abit? also check the harmonic balancer .
to put a motor in you will need to have sum commonsense when it comes mechanics. engine crane , correct tooling (you cannot use vice grips for every nut)

500 bucks jesus christ, my mate was quoted a minimum of 300 to remove a broken exhaust stud, and it came out finger tight . always better to try to fix those yourself

Mine has developed a bit of a clunk too, most noticeable at idle. Have you checked engine mounts?

u will always get away with a newer engine in an older car, and for 500 dollars with new studs i guess thats alright as the production of that set might have had a flaw in it.

in the freight trains that cross the nullabour they have these pistons in them that have a crown thats bolted to the top of the piston. the bolts let go and caused a massive failure. it came back to us on warrenty so our company sent the studs out to get tested and diagnosed to what caused it. ended up being a fault with the genuine studs and the warrenty was covered by the studs manufacturer
