Default Auto question

Gday guys,
I'm looking at getting another auto trans for me ute, so i can rebuild it with some of the strenghtened bits from america.
The ute is a 94 vr s pack 5litre, with the 4l60e trans in it.
I've found a auto on ebay for sale, which won't shift into second, so will be nice n cheap as a basis for the rebuild.
The only problem is, I've been told i will need a 4HBD model 4l60e to fit into my car,
and this transmission is a 7HBD. Just wondering if it will work.

The full code on the trans is 7HBD232B.
the first number is supposedly the year the trans was produced, so is there much difference between a 97 4l60e and a 94 4l60e?
This trans is apparently out of a 94 vr v8. So i assume it will work, but would like to check.
Thanks in advance,
-Tom

There both 4L60E

The 7HBD is from 1997 VS V8 Series II
The 4HBD is from 1993 VR V8

There both the same but I think the electrics is different though and from past threads i dont think they interchange. Maybe try sending a message to Dr Bob on this forum he might know. I think there is a few past threads on this forum as well which might help.
