How long??

Hey guys

i have a vs ecotec motor that has done around 232.000k's
it sounds quiet and sometimes is abit rough when ideling ??? (maybe a tune up????)

anyways how long do the motors last for??


i mean before they die and its time to upgrade???

depends on how well the vehicle is maintained... it all boils down to fluids and lubrication

ive got 197k on mine now with a good service history and she drives like new.

around 500k if looked after well but ive seen eco's with 900k in a ex taxi

Seen many taxis in the 600+kms range and but most ive seen is 1.1million k's on a toyota hi ace lol.
Prob looking at round 700-1000 for a motor then probably another 700 or so for labour if you get someone to do it.

for what its worth, taxis are in a different class to your daily drivers...

they spend most of their time running at optimal temperatures which significantly increases engine life

still, theres plenty of daily driven vs's pushing toward 500k... or should i say struggling toward 500k

then i wouldnt stress about it, just drop another one in if she goes..... if youve spent money on the rest of the car anyway, better too know the history of the car you are driving than to buy another one and take a chance.

bloke at work had a poorly maintined, badly treated ecotec and it lasted 360000k's
