hi guys, my car all of a sudden just started over revving (1200rpm in drive when stopped and 1800-1900rpm in park and nuetral) when i go to slow down it kicks into the lower gear and when i put the foot down it doesnt go past 3000rpm,and also the eco/power button doesnt work. i got home and checked the gearbox fluid and the oil come up to nearly half way on the dipstick with all these little bubbles on it,if anyone has any info please let me know. it is a 96 vs acclaim v6 auto stock, i picked up the car a few weeks ago and the guy i bought it off done all the servicing
how was the gearbox fluid?? is it auto or man?
Check for fault codes (see how-to section). the transmission problem may be due to over or under full transmission fluid (oil) or maybe incorrect type of transmission oil. When the trans was serviced by the previous owner he may have omitted the "O" ring on the filter neck which can allow the oil pump to suck air - this can aerate the fluid/oil resulting in foaming and erratic trans operation.
thanks for the info, i woke up this morning and started the car and it was all normal again wtf? maybe the trans was getting overheated and causing the problems, could it be something more than just over filling?
hope you dont have water in the trans

why? what would happen if theres water in the trans?
Stuffs them, they need a full rebuild/new trans.
yeah basically, will rust the inside the trans, and will **** everything up

5 bucks says you need to carby clean your throttle body ... ive had this problem before. its probably tacky and the butterfly is sticking

i checked the fault codes and it came up with code 23(mass air temp sensor MAT high voltage) and code 32(manifold air flow sensor) could these faults be causing the problem,if so how do i fix?
hey mate,
If its over reving in drive, and reving in park/nutural. You've gotta vaccuum leak. And those bubbles on your dipstick is because of an air leak. your next problem is trying to find it... but its definantly a vac leak if you're coming up with those codes (obviously relating to air).
My rims, are 23 inch, and they're black on black, No - they're not his!
1. Check whether your air filter is clogged - if so replace.
2. Check whether the insulation on the wiring to your MAF and IAT sensors has rubbed through or is damaged.
hey ppl, on a cold engine my vs struggles to change gears. reving out with no power also changing from drive to reverse the engine sometimes cuts out, but once driving for a few k's it runs fine.. any advice thanks
