Today we were out driving the VR when I noticed it was running strange.
First of all it was idling in Drive somewhat high
Then on taking off at the lights it felt as the trans was slipping
Thats when i noticed the Engine Management light ON
I noticed the gauges had dropped to zero and the radio volume dropped
Anyway i decided to turn the engine off and restart it to see if the light would go out
Then i found the battery was flat and wouldnt crank the engine over
The battery light was never on on the dash
I had one of those jumper packs and finally got the engine to start
No more lights on the dash, gauges working again
Got home and turned off the engine
Re-started it and the battery was like fully charged again
What sort of Mental problem has this car suffered from

Had this problem with my ute, got new battery lugs and its all good now.
Was told the factory ones stretch after a while and dont grip enough or something.
Could be a few things but i would start with the simple things, as posted above loose and/or dirty connections at the battery. Fluid level in the battery
Also restarting the engine how long did you wait before restarting it ?
Turning it off then straight back on again is no indication of the battery, it might of dropped a cell and will hold a charge but not the required CCA
I had the battery tested a few weeks ago
the guys were surprised it was still good after 4 years
This problem just sort of happened and went away

I had a problem almost identical to this, turned out the cable on the back of the alternator was loose - ala: VS v6 owners check this out.
All fixed now
Alternator Reg was busted
Replaced and all good again
