Thumbs up VS - Power Steering Problems

My power steering is playing up and I wanna fix as little as possible. Mechanic today said it will cost around $600 to replace - does this sound right? I was kind of hoping it's JUST a pump or something that's wrong but hopefully this video tells a simple story.

Hopefully it's something simple - sorry if this has been covered before!

You can get seal kits for a power steering pumps.
My pump was whining and there was nothing wrong with it, although it did feel harder then usual. My mechanic mate flushed the system and now it works good. Also had crack in my resevoir but had that much dirt and shit in there that it didnt leek so after a flush had to buy a new one.

i just had the same thing done as VS ute 119 but i had my power steering pump replaced. think it cost me about $190 to get replaced.
and mine was making that whinnying noise as hardly any fluid was getting to where it should it just ended up on the ground but after replacing it found out my reservoir had a hole in it so that got done too :P

It jumps going around corners at about 20kph.. has a cracking sound.. and my steering wobbles going 110

How much are these seal kits?

A full repair kit includes the vanes as well, when these wear it causes the whine. Around $70 I think for a full kit, comes with vanes and seals.

The vibration at 110 would be due to wheel balance.

I just replaced the transmission fluid and it's running a lot smoother now. There is a leak somewhere but it's moving down very slowly. Will get the mechanic to gather a quote in the coming days. $70 doesn't seem that bad!

I'll get my wheels aligned and suspension checked soon after.
