    Exclamation Monster Tacho.....or similar.....

Why Do people put monster Tacho's or similar branded tacho's in VR's and Vs's??

they already have a Tacho.......is it just for the wank factor??..

cause last time i checked the standard tacho told you how many Rev's Per Minute you where doing....

maybe some people drag race there car etc and want the ease of jst seeing a light when its time to change gear , insted of have to look at there tacho while there doing a fair speed

ithink this thread may turn into a fight like the chev badge threads

ok but why not just buy a seperate "Shift-Light"??.. i plan to get a shift light. and i can admit it is half for the "wank" factor. i just want one when my 5 speed goes in...

    stupidity

its all i can put it down to

i hate them in street cars with a passion

they just look ridiculous you dont need 100% perfect shift in stock commo, if you miss the shift by 100revs your motor will not blow up

and you dont need to have a light to tell you when youve gota change on the road, on the track fairenough you dont want to be looking at the tacho constantly and concentration on engine sound

I think it's funny as hell people having monster tachos. Good time to take off at the lights and leave their s..t boxes behind.

when you say it like that. i have decided not to get one... hahah i know when and where/ how to change gears....so i dont need a light to remind me when to. also i've seen heaps of VR's with them and i'm just like.....pfft...wanker

yeah im putting my 5 speed in next week.

thought about a shift light. but as stated abovem, 100rpm is not much to miss a shift by in a car with bog stock power

They might be meat heads and its hard to bend the neck downwards to look at the dash so the only option is to monster tacho it up someplace. Could also be part of the reason the same kinds of people drive around with bald stockies on the back and a suspended liscence. Not saying they draw attention to themselves or anything...

The only upside to having a tacho ontop of the dash is you can see the revs in your peripheral vision which would be handy for rev matching on the down shift. Having said that i don't have one and i won't get one because of the negative attention they attract.

I have one, was given it for doing an install it looks good, and i believe it helps out allot having it at eye level rather repeatedly looking down at the cluster.

but dont you need to keep an eye on your speed also? it would be more beneficial having the speedo instead of a tacho at eye level, that way theres no excuse for speeding. plus all your other important engine gauges are there too..

for a street car, there really isnt too much need for accurate gear shifts..

Yes for a street car, i agree. But when you have a bit of fun on the skid pan i find it helps allot. But havent been to drag tag for a long time....

Monster Tachs are very useful in the drag racing scene, drag racing is fast, people driving stock cars want to be fast, install a monster tach and you have a fast drag racer car.
Im guessing this is the mentality of it.
