My remote key has begun to fail when trying to open or lock my central locking.
I recently replaced the car battery, but, it was happening before this also.
Is there a battery in the key?
yes.

How do I get it out???
can't help with that. something must unscrew or slide but i don't know what a VS key looks like.
It can be split with care and then get a battery from Jaycar (has tags attached). Otherwise Mt Minit does the head alone for $80 or the whole key for $100 - sometimes they are on special as well. Usually the press buttons fail first.
batteries soldered in and I found it hard to desolder and get out,in fact I ended up at Mr Minit for a new one
i am having a weird problem as well with my keyless entry on my VS. i usually carry around my brothers to and from school so i have to unlock all my doors so i use the key in the door to open. i know i should unlock the car with the remote but im lazy ha. but i lately it has started to ONLY lock and unlock all the other doors except mine!!!
drivers door makes like a buzzing sound as if it is trying to unlock and lock but no go on the . it is the battery in the remote??
Im getting a new key made for my VR to give my GF (I feel a tremor in the force LOL), my key is a standard single button key, to get a duplicate its gonna cost me $121.
i just wanna no how to start a new thread thanks
Its the central locking actuator in your drivers door, its a 5 pin 1 which is much less comon to the 3-pin one found in the rest of your doors, so not just any actuator will work. You need to pull one out of the drivers door of another VR-VZ commodore. I dont know how the VN-VP central locking system works, so I dont know if you coulduse one of those
yea the keys are weather sealed. some of the older keys can be pulled apart such as the early VR keys and we also sell cases (im a locksmith) for the three button commodore keys for the VT-VZ so they can come apart with a bit of prising, however i havent done one so i wouldnt know how easy or hard it is.
batteries generally have a lifetime of about 15 years.. but yea i know the keys do seem expensive but just be glad you dont have to buy a genuine toyota key..
Not sure, probably not more than $20 or so. Take a set of allen keys with you as well, you will see why.
alright then sweeti thought it wouldve costed like $100 bucks haha and lucky for me my car is still under warrenty
cheers andrew
