    Default VR issues

Hi, i have been having lots of troubles with my car.I am not sure what is going on as the fault codes say that the system is running fine but the car lacks go.In drive (or any of the forward gears) it feels like the car has three ton in the back end. It will not go above 40km/h but in reverse she is fine.Does this sound like a transmittion problem or a diff problem??

Sounds like it's in limp home mode.

Either that or you need a new transmission.

It can't be removed unless you fix the fault - do a fault code check to find the cause and then you will have to rectify the fault. Instructions are at Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
It's easy to do and you only need a paperclip. Report back with what you find.

computer will only record a code when the engine light comes on, so if it isnt coming on, checking codes is useless.

Could be any number of things though... Transmission, Fuel supply, ignition system...

Can the car rev freely in park? no odd noises or misfiring?

could be the ecu it controls the gears as well as the engine maybe find someone to borrow one off to test for a half hour and see how it goes.

Check colour and smell of transmission fluid - shoud be reddish and not smell burnt.
If the fuel filter has not been changed recently it could be partially blocked.
Has any work been recently done to the car....how is it driven (granny/hoon)?

ECU is now reading code 81 which is said to be - 2-3 Shift Solenoid “B” Fault -
Does this indicate the the trans is stuffed or can it be fixed??

probably not, all you need to do is replace that solenoid. A hell of a lot cheaper than a new transmission. Sounds like it was putting your car into limp home mode. Get that fixed and you should be right.
