    Question Crank Angle Sensor Problems

Hi.. Ive been having problems with my VS (V6).. Its been stalling but only when im slowing down at the lights and just when im changing gears. Its an auto. (Ive had to replace the crank angle sensor a few times over the 6 years ive owned it.) .. Its almost like it doesnt like sitting below 1000rpm. This time i got error 49. Crank/cam signal intermittent. We changed the crank agle sensor again and its still stalling. Does anyone know what this could be? Or why i have to change it so often?
The same problem all the time is really starting to p*ss me off

it might not be your CAS. The CAM signal comes from your Cam angle sensor which you will see on the front of your engine near the water pump. It could also be a dodgy coil playing with your DFI and sending dud codes like your 49. There's a test procedure in gregory's to check the cam sensor. (cam sensors cost more than CAS.

Thanks for that. Im not gonna bother with testing it, changing that CAM sensor tomorrow, As long as ive owned it its never been changed. Least if its still happening that will be one thing ruled out

I'd go with what greenacc says, plus I'd double check or replace the connectors and wiring to the CAS...maybe you have an intermittent connection there.

Something for me to keep in mind thanks.
Could it do the same on an auto???

This is an auto. It shuddered a bit this morning when i started it up, stalled once while still pretty cold, but then all seemed to go ok. Im thinking there is still an underlying problem somewhere, It seems to be running a little rougher than normal.

glad to hear its getting a bit better. Maybe check and clean out your IAC valve , that could be causing idling problems if its dirty.

not that you want to keep spending money so get other views but airflow meters seem to cause all sorts of probs if they are stuffed like the probs you are having.

yeah, same as mine. Changed the cam sensor on friday and all was running well, drove it over the weekend and it was stalling badly, now the last 2 days it hasnt done it. I did look on ebay and there seemed to be some ok priced ones, but i dont want to buy one and have the same thing keep happening. Do you think there is a way for Holden to test it to see if it is the problem??

i went to holden and they said that they could get me a test one for $50 bucks to have for a month.
so really ur better off just getting that one on ebay.
turns out they couldnt get me one anyway.

man this is the guy i got mine off. $50 u cant really go wrong.
