I have a 99 VS V6 ute and I think I may have either cracked the head or done the head gasket?, eitherway I am not going to bother spending the money on fixing but instead want to simply put in another motor, some of the wreckers near where i live have told me they will sell and fit a VY motor for me for a good price, ($1000?) but what I am trying to find out is whether this motor will go in without to much drama?, and if not what other motors could I put in my VS without haveing to do a great deal?,

Ask for a written quote, there is a fair bit of work I believe. I would be looking at the problem with your motor a cracked head or head gasket renewal is not that big a job.
mate uve got the same idea as me i wanna put a vz motor in my vs
my vs motor is ***ed if any1 got any ideas on were 2 geyt a motor that will fit ma vs for cheap plz pm me
Why? They are the same motor with a few small differences.
Check this thread -
Fitting a vt ecotec to a vs what needs to be changed
If your ute is a series 3, chances are that the changes made to the VT have been made to the factor series 3 motor as well (there probably isn't that much difference between the VT and VY revisions either). The biggest thing you would have to muck around with would be adding another temp sensor (one for the guage, one for the ecu), but I don't know the setup for the series 3 V6's. You may also have to swap the oil sumps.
If worse comes to worse, you can take parts off the old engine and put them on the new engine.

VY engine in a VT???
Do you speak english? Alloytec conversion is a big job.
