    Question Rear Brakes

    Hey guys,

When applying the breaks in my Calais it gets rather rough. I felt the rear rotors and they are all rough and damaged. (Front rotors are fine).

Anyway I got some new tyres put on the other day, while my car was there I asked em to check out the brakes for me. Turns out I need new rotors and pads. The guy there quoted me around $300 - $350 for new parts and labor.

Anyway I have been looking on eBay for some new rotors, anyone know if these are any good? And is it worth getting slotted rotors?

either of those would be OK. RDA - the second link, has a pretty good name. I have never heard of the other brand. Its not a very difficult job so you might as well save your $150.
As a comparison why don't you ring your local brakepro or supercheap and see what their rotors cost, these are pretty cheap at most places.

Ah ok cool, yeah my main concern was that I would buy them and find that they are terrible quality being that I had never heard of either brand and they are from ebay. But if RDA are alright I will look into getting them.

Um I spoke to the local autopro and they told me $65 a rotor for standard rotors and I cant remember what he told me for Pads. But that was just for standard rotors, the RDA ones on ebay are slotted and come with pads... Are slotted rotors worth it and do that make much difference?

Oh wow, thats cheap for DBA. Autopro quoted me about that for non-slotted ones. Thanks Kyle.

But, how much difference are slotted rotors going to make? Are they worth it?

Slotted rotors don't suffer from brake fade when they get hot, they also pull you up quicker.

I can do you RDA slotted rotors and pads for the rear for $175.

Oh really, thats a sweet price. But are they going to suit IRS?

If so any ideas how much it would be to post em over to SA?

Yes, definitely IRS. Just need to know if you have the 5 hole or 10 hole rotors. $22 for shipping to your door.

Have a look at the rotor with the wheel off and count the holes around where the wheel studs go. Obviously a 5 hole will have 5 holes, and a 10 hole will have the extra holes between the wheel studs.
