66,000km ecotec VS commodore
Hey all car is up for its service ive been having fuel issues lately less than 300km out of the tank more like 260-280 which is much less than the usual 430-450 i normally get. the oil is still a golden coolant brake fluid everything is perfect except for fuel use. The fuel filter was replaced less than 10,000km ago new ignition leads were done at the same time. I have a K&n Panel filter which might need a clean
To recitify this problem ive bought new VY injectors im wonting to replace the spark plugs with platnium ones but im not sure with brand ??????????? what else should i be looking at ?
wheel alignment is right perfect nothing wrong there.
the only other thing that i could think of is maybe my fuel pump is on its way out but no signs

I would like to start to use Penrite oil for my car but due to the age of the motor and lower K's im not sure what would be best suited for my car i dont dony towing
i would look at changing your O2 sensors, even though u have an exceptional low km car, it can only help.
also check for any error codes (how-to found in the how-to section)
changing your injectors and using platinum sparkys wont help your fuel problems, don't waste your money
you need to look at your sensors, fuel regulator etc... something is definitely wrong in that area
I recently replaced both O2 sensors at 210,000km - both had never been changed before. This was done for the same reasons you state - about 300km on a tank. Since changing I've driven about 4000km mostly long trips to Townsville and back fully loaded and cruising at 105-115kph...maybe 500km city. Overall for that 4000km my overall economy has improved to 8.3 l/100km - that's about 750km for a full tank.
Of course that's not really representative as it's mostly long trips, but it does indicate a definite improvement.
I also changed plugs about 10,000km ago with no difference (old ones had been in for 100,000km with no problems).
So I go with the previous posts - try the O2 sensors first. I got mine on Ebay for about $130 delivered - Delphi 4 wire.
Good Luck.
I would also be definantly changing both your O2 sensors mate. Buy the Delphi ones as stated above or go to Holden spare parts and buy the genuine AC DELCO ones. Both brands are unplug old / plug in new. The aftermarket ones are universal and you have to wire them in so don't bother with them. I personally don't bother with platinum plugs either. I just use normal NGK plugs, they work fine.
Use a Penrite SIN 15w or a 20w and that will be fine. I use the Penrite SIN 25w60 in my 5 litre.

my ute has 115,00km im not sure if the o2's have been changed before i get about 300 - 330 out of a full tank (needs a tune tho) should i get them replaced at 120,000km service?
yes you should change them, but do them your self, it'll save you about 1/2hour labour for unscrewing them from the exhaust, and unplugging them from the loom. if you can remove a bolt/nut, u can change your O2 sensors.
pop your head under the car, just behind the front wheels. you should see them along the exhaust pipes closer to the engine, thats if you cant see them from under the hood.
no probs, you should at least be able to see them, my car is lowered also and i didnt have any problems getting to them
is urs a 6 or an 8? u may have 2 O2 sensors
double post, damn slow internet..
