my balance shaft bearings seems to be noisy, especially from rear of engine, i have read on other posts about removing gear of the shaft, but what i am wondering is whats involved with replacing the rear balance shaft bearing which is likely to be the problem...is the worth just replacing the rear?? how difficult? is it a pull out tap in bearing?
Hmmm, never pulled one down that far but I'd say you'd probably have to take the inlet manifold, water pump and timing chain cover off atleast. if not might even be an engine out job!

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
take the whole thing out. i did makes your engine rev better. though i had mine all balanced first. might cause viabrations if crank is worn unevenly
I have been told the balance shaft just sits in the engine block like a bush arrangement. If that wears out the block is stuffed. Correct me if I am wrong?

Jim
on the v6's its a roller bearing at the back and a ball bearing at the front. not bushes at all
