    Default Stroking.....

    hey guys

my next engine is going to probably be the L67 motor

    i just have two questions

    1. will the factory charger make much power difference on a 4.2L stroked L67??...

    2. and with stroking... say i was to stroke my engine now (Buick 3.8L) is it as easy as just wacking the stroker crank in and away we go... (i know theres more to it.. like tune etc.. but what other internals get changed when stroking?..)

    thanks

new conecting rods, and dont forget to add the price of gaskets and fluids to your quote, it can easy reach over $300
an while u were buildng an engine why wouldnt u build it with lower compresion and run more psi whith the blower? just a thought

why stroke a six to 4.2? for roughly the same price, you could have bought a 5.0 and put a supercharger on it. You'll need new internals, as the pistons will be oversized im guessing, meaning the block will need to be bored too.

Pretty sure they just run different crank and rods, but im guessing that the rods won't be suited for standard pistons so will need them too, plus you'll be best off getting it all checked for tolerances and line hone mains, plus of course hone cylinders, plus im not sure about the kit your getting but if your buying all the parts seperatly it more than likely will need balancing. its not cheap to build a good motor, plus when you start spending money on decent parts, you want them to last more than 20,000kms, hence why its alot more than just chucking it together, which of course you can do.

Not to mention that if your stroking it and have the engine apart you may aswell get some head work done, the list goes on and on, don't forget the little things either like head bolts, frost plugs, timing chain, gasket (as said above), thermostat, ARP internals bolts etc etc
