Hey,
Before you say its illegal. Its just for a cheap drag car atm. So it wont be licensed.
But does anything special need to be done for a swap.
Well, bellhousings are different. 308/253 have the trimatic pattern whereas the 304 have the Chev Turbo pattern.
You will have to put sensors in, you will need a new sump. The mounting positions should be the same (don't quote me on that). Unless it is going to be carbied, you will need to find an injection setup. Exhaust manifold will be different (you may need to go custom), as the 253/308 don't use VN heads, unless you can source VN heads (maybe).
And that's just to begin with, I'm sure there's more.
A hell of alot more...
kframe is the same... will bolt straight in far as i know.... but why the hell would u put a slow as 253 in i heavy vr for a drag car ..
SIR LS1
the two ton go kart
The local wreakers had a competition burnout car once, they just slaped a 308 from the yard into a VN it had open extractors, it went pretty good, run a 9.8 1/8th mile I believe which is about the same as a stock 304. A carby 308 will go straight onto the VL/N/P/R/S k frame and everything should bolt up in the driveline, using VL gearbox mounts and the front half of the trimatic tailshaft or something like that. It can't be too hard if they bashed one together at the wreckers
