    Default ABS In VR/S

    What models come with ABS?
My parents want me to get a car with it because I'm a noob driver.
    Help appreciated greatly

Both VR and VS had ABS fitted to the luxury models - this could also be optioned on the cheaper models like the Executive. For safety reasons I prefer the later VS series 2 model which had a new style Bosch ABS system plus a driver and passenger airbag as options.
Hopefully you'll never need to use them.

Not because you're a noob driver, becuase they love you and don't want you to die...

Nah ABS is good stuff, People should only buy a car with it, unfortunatly thats not always the case. But if you have a choice definatly get a car with it.

There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.

Alright thanks for all the help fellas. I will also be getting a model with driver and passenger airbags.
I was thinking of going a VR, But I think I might just stick with my original choice and stay with a VS.

The only problem with the VS passenger airbags is that the covers warp up from sun damage. It's not a problem that causes issues to the functionality of the airbag, but fixing that piece of trim is pricey. I don't know if the airbag cover is even carried by holden anymore.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, But doesn't ABS stop the brakes from locking up and the car skidding?

Anti lock brakes are an electronic safety item that prevent locking of the wheels (and hence skidding) during panic braking. The most important aspect of ABS performance is that it allows the driver to steer around an obstacle even when braking with maximum force.

You are correct and it is a great safety feature.
ABS doesn't make you brake any faster or slower, it just prevents the wheels from locking up if you brake too hard.
